I love folk music, raw acoustic tracks with a story behind it.
This one's called Boatmen. It's about the rise and demise of the fishing bussineses of Rhos On Sea.
Some of my earlyest memories are of being on my dad's fishing boat, an old timber boat called Corral Star, brought over to Rhos when the breakwater was first built. More arrived over the years, a lot of characters from diferent places. A lot of them use to drink in the old Rhos Abby hotel just off the beach.
One by one they left for one reason or another.
The financial crash killed off most of it and now there is only one boat left skippered by a loverly bloke, trained up by my old man who is now retired. He's called Jack, or captain Jack as I like to call him. Long may he sail on calm seas and hopefully the industry will come back again one day.
